BIO
JOHN GRABER was born in San Diego, California, and raised nearby in Poway. He grew up playing lots of sports, especially tennis, and enjoying the outdoors. His love of reading and writing was fostered early on by his father, who tragically took his own life when the author was thirteen. In 1982, Graber graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature from the University of California, Irvine, on whose intercollegiate tennis team he played. After college, in his mid-twenties, Graber taught tennis for three years at the Armed Forces Recreation Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, where he met his wife, Marie-Louise, a native of Sweden. They settled in San Diego, where they raised their three children—Kristina, Sara, and Erik—and where they still live. For the last thirty years Graber has taught in the English Department of Poway High School, the same high school he attended as a student. Today still finds Graber in his free time reading a good book, out on a court, or taking long hikes and runs with his dog, Freja.
